Candace's Progression

Hello again! It's been a great week. There are many great items of news to report, none better then our visit with Candace last night. We tried stopping by a certain less-active member who happened to be living close to her place. When we found out they weren't home, Elder Heiner suggested that it would be a good idea to see if Candace was home. She was and her husband and kids were there. We taught her the last little bit of the Plan of Salvation. When we asked her what she remembered about what we taught her a while back, amazingly, she remembered most of it! This had been the first time we had seen her since she showed up at church a couple weeks ago. Candace told us that she had been reading bits and pieces of the Book of Mormon and she really likes it! She also still wants to be baptized and we set a baptismal date for May 2. It seems like she won't have much of a problem with anything as long as she can come to church on a regular basis. We meet with her again on Wednesday. Everyone please pray for her!

As for our friend Britaini? Well, she's been going through some hard luck since her move. We had an appointment all lined up with her on Wednesday night but less then an hour before, she phoned saying that she had a family emergency she had to deal with. We tried texting her the next day but she hasn't replied. We'll keep trying.

On April 11th, the Book of Mormon Musical began it's stop in Vancouver which has caused a bit of a stir among British Columbia. Anyone who is familiar with this play knows that its meant to poke fun at Mormons and the stuff we believe. To keep the people who attend the play from getting even weirder ideas about our beliefs then they might already have, our mission has decided to have a "media blitz" which requires us to work with the members of our area and have them take pictures of us doing what Mormon missionaries REALLY do for work, contrary to the way they are portrayed in the play. The members are then to post these photos of us on Facebook, or Twitter, or whichever social media site they use with the hash tag "#RealBCMormons" to show their friends. We only had a small number of them by the end of the day, but they are sure to go a long way in counteracting the effects of the musical. It was quite fun to be a part of!

We've been working with a less active named Brother M who has been wanting to come back to church for quite some time. He's been working with his team on a construction project for a while, but with work slowing down he's been able to come to church for the past few Sundays. He was first introduced to the missionaries many years ago as a young man living in Montreal, Quebec. Since just after joining, he moved to Calgary where he got married and then moved to Campbell River just after he was divorced. He was able to stay very active up until moving to BC. He had us over for ribs last night and boy were they good! During our spiritual thought he bore powerful testimony of the church and how he knew it to be true. He truly is an amazing man and it's so great to see him come back to church!

So ends another chapter in the mission field. I wish Mom and my sister Sam well on what promises to be a great trip to Holland! Have a great week!
